Public input is playing an important role in the on-going refinement of future I-35 improvements. This is evidenced by recent developments pertaining to the I-35 intersections at Woodland Avenue and St. Johns Avenue.
In August 2013, the Texas Department of Transportation released the I-35 Travis County Capital Area Improvement Plan (also known as the Mobility 35 Plan). The Mobility 35 Plan indicated that the Woodland Avenue crossing of I-35 should be closed to vehicular traffic and reconstructed as a bicycle/pedestrian only bridge. Similarly, the plan called for repurposing the St. Johns bridge by making it a bicycle/pedestrian only bridge.
