Western Caldwell County Transportation Study

Background

In 2013, Caldwell County adopted a long-range transportation plan that prioritized studying the possibility of extending FM 150 and Yarrington Road with the goal of making east-west travel easier. CAMPO and Caldwell County are working together to study the need for and potential solutions to making travel easier in this area. Though FM 150 and Yarrington Road were initially discussed, this study will consider existing roads in the study area and could include improvements to existing roads, potential new roads, and/ or other transportation solutions.

About the Study

This high-level feasibility study will examine current and future travel patterns, growth and development, and also gather information on both the human and natural environment. This feasibility study is the first step in a multi-step process that will gather and consider public input in determining needs and potential improvement options.

Caldwell County and CAMPO are working together on this feasibility study to ensure regional travel needs and connectivity are considered and incorporated into the study’s recommendations. The study began in late 2019 and will take approximately 18 months to complete. Extensive public involvement, including small group meetings, public open houses, and community group presentations will occur throughout the study and be used in final recommendations and any potential future phases of project development.
