The Central Texas Regional Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Architecture and Deployment Plan provides a plan for the deployment and integration of ITS in Central Texas. This plan is required by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in order to use federal transportation funds on ITS projects. This plan provides the CAMPO region with a framework for implementing ITS projects, encourages interoperability and resource sharing among agencies, identifies applicable standards to apply to projects, and allows for cohesive long-range planning among regional stakeholders. Several high priority, multi-agency regional ITS projects and program concepts have been identified and further developed as part of the plan.
The Central Texas Regional ITS Architecture and Deployment Plan update was led by CAMPO in close coordination with stakeholders throughout the Central Texas Region. Stakeholders included local, regional, and state agencies representing traffic, transit, toll operations, public safety, and emergency management in Central Texas. This plan includes a final report, an interactive ITS architecture available on this website, and a database developed using the USDOT Regional Architecture Development for Intelligent Transportation (RAD-IT) Version 9.2.2.
The 2025 update of the Central Texas Regional ITS Architecture and Deployment Plan was led by CAMPO in coordination with stakeholder agencies throughout Central Texas. For more information on the Austin Regional ITS Architecture, email the ITS Team.
