Regional Safety Action Plan

CAMPO is developing a Regional Safety Action Plan (RSAP) to enhance traffic safety across its six-county region. The plan aims to reduce fatal and serious-injury crashes while improving transportation systems for all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, public transportation users, and drivers, with an emphasis on investments in vulnerable communities.

This comprehensive and data-driven effort addresses broader regional safety needs and provides access to additional funding resources. County-specific plans are under development for Bastrop and Burnet counties and are completed for Caldwell, Hays, and Williamson counties. *Travis County developed its own safety action plan in coordination with the CAMPO regional plan.  Each plan will be integrated into the overarching RSAP, ensuring a coordinated approach to safety across the region.

The RSAP will focus on several key areas:

  • Revising road designs
  • Recommending policy changes
  • Improving traffic enforcement
  • Enhancing educational programs and supporting the development of road safety culture in the region
  • Infrastructure improvements to address equitable investment in historically underserved communities

Public input is a key part of the plan’s development. The third online open house and public commenting is now open until July 11, 2025. Call 512-651-3964 to request information by mail.
